Review- How do I loathe thee, let me count the ways?

Not the film, the film itself isn’t worth the effort or energy. It’s a 2 star film, the special effects looked better in 1992, Jai Courtney has less charisma than my desk, Khallesi does what she can but the script is awful, Arnie is getting a bit too old for this, the villain is awful and it wastes Matt Smith totally.

Anything else? Well, the plot bodges together the first two films through a 12a lens and manages to degrade them, the action scenes don’t stand out and it sequel begs like there’s no tomorrow. Also, Terminators are killed off left and right despite the troubles the Linda Hamilton had dealing with one each film and there’s more plot holes than I’ve had dinners.

I didn’t like it.

But more than anything else, I despise everything this film represents. If you were to ask me “Whats wrong with modern blockbusters?” I would answer simply “Terminator Genysis” And not least because that stupid title keeps making me think it’s been misspelled.

This is a cold, charmless little film. It cost 150 million dollars and I don’t know where that money went. I t certainly didn’t go on the “action” sequences, or acting, or a script. It plays like Sky-net was trying to make a Terminator film running off some kind of checklist.

Script-wise it was so poorly plotted and so simple to follow that when my girlfriend dozed off for 15 minutes, when she awoke she didn’t even have to ask what was happening, she already knew.

The main reason that this film exists is to squeeze more money out for Paramount before the rights to Terminator revert back to James Cameron in 2019. Which means they are going to be sequels, even if this film bombs like it needs to, those sequels will be on the production line and coming out ever 2 years no matter how much we try to avoid them. No wonder it feels rushed.

I can’t recommend this film in any way shape or form. Save your money and watch T2 again.
